Hello. My great grandmother's mother was married in Newton County on June 9, 1889. I have a copy of the marriage license which I received last week from the Clerk of Courts office. I am trying to find more information about her and was hoping there may be more records on her in your records. Her name was Sallie Pruett at the time she married Robert Cartlidge. Her maiden name was Prewitt and she was from Lauderdale County. What is interesting and probably just clerical in difference is that her two children Rosetta and Lonnie Frank had the last name Pruitt. The children were supposedly born in Demer, Mississippi in Neshoba County but I cannot find any records. We always thought that the two children were natural siblings, however, there is only a ten year difference in the age of Sallie Cartlidge and Lonnie Frank Pruitt. I believe that Sallie may have been married to Frank's father but I have not found either natural parent for him. I cannot locate Rosetta's natural father either.

I am hoping that somewhere in the Newton County records I can find more information on Sallie Pruett prior to marrying Robert Cartlidge.

Robert and Sallie along with her two children moved to Louisiana in the 1890's. And I have records from that period on but not prior to their leaving Mississippi other than their census records when they were still living with their own parents.

Sallie Prewitt, Pruett, Cartlidge was born September 1864. Her husband Robert Cartlidge was born May 1856.

Any direction or information that you can lend would be greatly appreciated.

Would like to correspond with a direct blood descendant of Joshua Maxwell 1804-1876 who would be interested in DNA testing to further our knowledge of his family.

Hi,
My father was adopted. Before he died he found out his real name and birthplace. He was raised in Tennessee but was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He said there was a lady that sold babies there.
Did Georgia Tann have a connection to or in Cincinnati?
