This was passed on to me by a relative on the Puckett side. My mother was Betty Jo Ray Thomsen; her mother was Mary Emily Gibbon. I was wondering how to make a correction. My mother passed on March 8, 1992 in Tucson, AZ. Other than that, this brings back lots of memories. Going to visit Cloyd and Esther Mae's farm; my aunts; and various family members. Some of the stories were familiar, too.

I'm surprised at the omission of the New Providence Baptist Cemetery from your listing. Although the New Providence Church is long gone, the cemetery remains.

Have just discovered and started to read the very interesting material on your website. I was tickled to read the conjecture around the ownership of the first car in Newton. This was kind of a family joke for us because my grandmother, Mrs. J.R. Rowzee (Gertrude Norris) always joked that he had owned the first car in Newton, but that he bought it secondhand. My recollection is that she said he bought it from the mayor but I'm not certain on that point.

An awesome site. I can't wait until I can go back to MS and visit the museum.
