Wall, Hopkins and Tisdale Family Notes

 

John Wall & Nancy Tisdale

John Wall, son of Micajah Wall and Mary Young, was born 5 January 1800,  Greene County, Georgia, and moved with his parents to Wayne County, Mississippi.  His death came at Hickory, Mississippi, on March 27, 1878. He settled in Newton  County about 1836. He married about 1823 to Nancy Tisdale, d/o Pleasant Tisdale  and Mary (Polly) Corbin. Nancy was born August 31, 1806 in South Carolina and  died near Hickory, Mississippi, on September 25, 1866. Both are buried in Spring  Hill Methodist Church Cemetery. They had 13 known children:

  1. Micajah C. (Cage) Wall, Sr., born about 1824, -- died near Stratton, Newton  County, Mississippi, about 1875-1878, and buried in Mt. Zion Congregational  Methodist Church Cemetery; married Mary Jane (Jinnie) Tisdale
  2. Mary Ann Wall, born December 2, 1827 died May 5, 1853, Hickory, Mississippi;  married James R. Sims
  3. Elizabeth Biddy Wall, born October 4, 1828 died January 3, 1894, Hickory,  Mississippi; married James Ellis Caraway
  4. Infant Son, born and died about 1832
  5. Jayne Wall, born 1834; married N. Davis
  6. John McClelland Wall, born 1836, Hickory, Mississippi died during Civil War;  married Lucinda (Lucy, Lenzie) Angie Dearing. Following his death, Angie married  (2) Robert Holman Weir, Sr.
  7. Eliza A. Wall, born October 2, 1837, Hickory, Mississippi died December 13,  1907, and buried in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery, Jasper County,  Mississippi; married (1) William Suttles and (2) Henry S. Cornett
  8. Thomas Jefferson Wall, born November 19, 1839, Hickory, Mississippi died May 20,  1907, Hickory, Mississippi, and buried in Hickory Cemetery; married Martha Ann  (Mattie) McGee
  9. Zachariah Jackson (Zack) Wall, born May 7, 1842, Hickory, Mississippi died July  19, 1915, Piketon, Scott County, Mississippi; and buried in Sulphur Springs  Baptist Church Cemetery, Scott County, Mississippi; married Frances
    (Fannie)  Cornett
  10. Rachel Wall, born about 1844--died July 4, 1912, Hickory, Mississippi; married  James Wesley Horn
  11. Nancy (Nannie) Wall, born 1847, Hickory, Mississippidied Jasper County,  Mississippi; married John H. (Bill) Lewis
  12. Peter Corbin Wall, born January 5, 1848, Hickory, Mississippidied March 25,  1927, Evant, Texas; married Matilda Elizabeth Johnson
  13. Margaret A. Wall, born about 1850, Hickory, Mississippi; married John Johnson

 

Young Edward (Ed) Wall, Sr. & Henrietta Tisdale

Young Edward (Ed) Wall, Sr., son of Micajah Wall and Mary Young, was born  July 6, 1806, Washington County, Alabama, Mississippi Territory, and living  1873, Hickory, Mississippi. He married about 1826 to Henrietta Tisdale, d/o  Pleasant Tisdale and Mary (Polly) Corbin. They had 11 children of whom we have  record:

  1. Young Edward Wall, Jr., born November 18, 1827 -- died November 4, 1892, Scott  County, Mississippi, and buried in Homewood Cemetery, Scott County, Mississippi;  married Frances H. Boyles
  2. James Appleton (Sol) Wall, born March 17, 1831 died March 23, 1910, Hickory,  Mississippi; and buried in Hickory Cemetery; married Martha Ann Barber
  3. Nancy B. Wall, born March 30, 1833; died after 1880. Did not marry.
  4. John Pleasant Wall, born July 8, 1835 died 1914, Bay Springs, Jasper County,  Mississippi, and buried in Bay Springs Cemetery; married Mary Elizabeth Horn
  5. Micajah C. (Mike) Wall, born December 13, 1837, Hickory, Mississippi died  February 19, 1910, Hickory, Mississippi, and buried in New Spring Hill Cemetery;  married Louisa Davis
  6. Edward Jackson Wall, born November 2, 1839, Hickory, Mississippi died March 5,  1916, Forrest County, Mississippi, and buried in Glendale Cemetery; marries Mary  Frances Baylis
  7. Seaborn Tisdale Wall, born December 28, 1841, Hickory, Mississippi died November  23, 1925; married Cora Adaline McGee
  8. Francis Marion (Frank) Wall, born December 17, 1843, Hickory, Mississippi died  January 2, 1917, Hickory, Mississippi; married Sylvia Elizabeth (Bettie) Suttles
  9. George Washington Wall, born January 1, 1845, Hickory, Mississippi died May 2,  1920, Jasper County, Mississippi. Did not marry.
  10. Jasper Leonard Wall, born December 2, 1848, or 1849, depending on source,  Hickory, Mississippi died March 26, 1921; married Eugenia (Genie) McGee
  11. Erasmus Clinton (Rack) Wall, born May 16, 1851, Hickory, Mississippi died  September 2, 1939, Hickory, Mississippi, and buried in Poplar Springs Baptist  Church Cemetery; married (1) Lenora Elizabeth Suttles and (2) Mary Ella Horn

 

Nancy Wall & William Hopkins, Jr.

Nancy Wall, d/o Micajah Wall and Mary Young, was born October 22, 1814, Wayne  County, Mississippi, and died February 6, 1893, Hickory, Mississippi, and was  buried in New Spring Hill Cemetery. She married about 1839-1840, to William  Hopkins, Jr., born 1807died after 1850. Their marriage produced five children  of whom we have record:

  1. John Hopkins, born ca. 1841
  2. Julia Ann Hopkins, born December 32, 1844died October 6, 1914, Hickory,  Mississippi, and buried in Hickory Cemetery; married Washington Ware (W. W.) Cox
  3. Richard Hopkins, born ca. 1846
  4. Oliver Hopkins, born April 20, 1848died July 6, 1935, Hickory, Mississippi, and  buried in Hickory Cemetery; married Helen Vasti Tucker
  5. William D. Hopkins, born August 20, 1850died December 20, 1932, Hickory,  Mississippi, and buried in Hickory Cemetery; married Nancy P. (Nannie) Wall

Peter Corbin Tisdale, Sr. & Lazrilla Eliza Allen

Peter Corbin Tisdale, Sr., son of Pleasant Tisdale and Mary (Polly) Corbin,  was born on October 30, 1800, South Carolina and migrated to Chunky, Newton  County, Mississippi, where he died in 1849. He married about 1827 in Alabama to  Lazrilla Eliza Allen, born in Virginia on March 12, 1808 and died at Stratton,  Newton County, on May 28, 1883. She was a daughter of Jesse Allen, Sr., and  Susannah Jackson and is likely buried in Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist  Church in an unmarked grave. They were the parents of thirteen children:

  1. Mary Jane (Jinnie) Tisdale, born March 1, 1828, Alabama died October 1872-1880,  Stratton, Mississippi; married a cousin, Micajah C. (Cage) Wall, Sr. (See above)
  2. Jesse Pleasant Tisdale, born January 14, 1830, Alabama died January 31, 1902,  Glenmora, Caldwell Parish, Louisiana; married (1) Louisa Charlotte Bartlett (2)  Ella Jane Rayner, and (3) Roberta Matilda Jane Brady
  3. John J. Tisdale, born September 17, 1831, Mississippi died after 1900, place  unknown; married Lucinda Jennings
  4. William Allen Tisdale, born January 14, 1833, Alabama died after 1870, place  unknown
  5. Peter Foster Tisdale, born April 19, 1835, Chunky, Newton County, Mississippi no  further record and believe died in infancy
  6. Wiat D. Tisdale, born 28 November 1836, Chunky, Newton County, Mississippi
  7. Elizabeth Ann Tisdale, born July 28, 1838, Chunky, Newton County, Mississippi;  married _________Walker
  8. Joseph W. Tisdale, born January 1, 1839, Chunky, Newton County, Mississippi died  Genoa, Arkansas, date unknown
  9. Susan Joan Tisdale, born August 6, 1841, Newton County, Mississippi died July 5,  1924; married John P. McAlister
  10. Eliza Candace Tisdale, born February 20, 1844, Chunky, Newton County,  Mississippi died September 6, 1924, Newton County, Mississippi, and buried in  Green Valley Cemetery, Jasper County, Mississippi; married Andrew Able Fowler,  Sr.
  11. Margaret Dallas Tisdale, born October 14, 1844, Newton County, Mississippi died  February 26, 1931, and buried in Garlandville United Methodist Church Cemetery;  Jasper County, Mississippi. Did not marry.
  12. Wade Holland Tisdale, born November 5, 1846, Newton County, Mississippi died  1916; married Mattie ______.
  13. Peter Corbin Tisdale, Jr., born June 1, 1848, Newton County, Mississippi. Died  in infancy.
