Hello! I'm just beginning to do research on my father's family. I feel like I've "hit the jackpot" in finding your information!
I'd like to thank you, first of all, for your kind comments about my father,
Dr. Sidney D. Leverett, Jr. (A small change: there is no final "e" in the spelling of the name).

I have found an old file containing pictures and information--also a copy of a page from the Todd Family bible.
Do you have any "brick walls"? Perhaps we can help one another!

With great appreciation, Laurie

We believe that Georgia Tann may have taken a child in our family. My in laws had four boys,
her fifth pregnancy was twin girls. Until they went to take the girls home, then there was one.
No matter how much they insisted there were twins, they were told by the hospital
it was a single child. Born October 2, 1946.

My mother in law is still living and the other daughter. Have many of the
children been found? Are there any records?

Debbie

I am a descendent through James Rogers Kendrick and Cornelia Easley Todd and their daughter Rebecca Holland
Kendrick Scott. After the Civil War, James Rogers and Rebecca Kendrick left Newton County Mississippi for
Hill County Texas. It is known that 16 families traveled with them by covered wagon. I am searching for the 16
families that were along on this trip. I have found that the Todds, Holland's, Coats, Williams, Longs, Kendricks and
possibly Loper's were on this travel. Does anyone have an article or any documentation (newspaper clipping) or
family story that would list the families and possibly encounters along the way via letters?
Thank you, Ann (annpittmanATSIGNmac.com)

Thank you for your grand Juzan family story.

It was sent to me by our Canadian Etienne Trudeau family association(father of Maj. Francois Trudeau
who 1702 built Mobile's first fort, he wed a "Pelican Girls" daughter of Etienne Burel, old Mobile's first inn keeper;
her mother was a Canadian "King's Daughter" by her earlier, first husband).

Maj. Trudeau's son (home still stands in New Orleans French Quarter) was a colonel in Spanish cavalry service
and later Gov. Trudeau of "Upper Louisiana" at St. Louis.

Charles Juzan's will in first decade of 1800 Mobile, provided for his white "Juzan" children and "mulatto" "Juzang"
(note added "g" which they still use in Mobile). Their African-American blood came in later generations.
His son Capt. Peter Juzan, Choctaw chief, was an inn keeper, Juzan Lake, Miss.
He may be the Indian who's letter to Gen. Jackson was that the British ships
intended to attack New Orleans and by-pass Mobile.

I descend Maria (allegedly escorted Gen. Lafayette at the 1820's Mobile ball), Mme. Marie Josephine de Juzan Hollinger,
entombed behind Mobile's public library. Buried near her is her son-in-law,
U.S. Senator, Col. George Washington Owen, Mayor of Mobile, who's daughter wed
Adm. Raphael Semmes, CSN, of the CSS Alabama.

I descend the other son-in-law, 1815 Mobile,, Col. Gilbert Christian Russell, Sr., 3rd U.S. Infantry,
for whom Russell County, Alabama, is name;, buried Magnolia Cemetery.
Born Abington, Virginia, his father Maj. Andrew Russell, Jr., fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain, N.C.
As commanding officer of Fort Pickering below Memphis, Capt. Christian, 2nd U.S. Infantry,
tried to save the life of his friend, Capt. Meriwether Lewis.
He investigated and reported on Lewis' death who I suspect may have been an un-diagnosed
Manic-Depressive (bipolar).

The French Juzan descendants collectively; became an all-American amalgamation of European, Indian, and
African-origins, Americans. Color us White, Red, and Blue...and a bit of Black too.

Just found that my ancestor, Arthur Gay, owned land in Newton Co. He died before 1863 and lived in Rankin Co.
(around 1820) before moving to Lauderdale Co., where he died.
